Lakewood, Colo., April 16, 2020 – Alcorn Construction is proud to announce the addition of Heather Harper as the company’s new Director of Preconstruction. Heather is a construction industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience and will oversee Alcorn Construction’s dedicated team of estimators. Her role will ensure that the company continues to provide top-notch estimating and legendary preconstruction services to its clients.

“It’s exciting to have someone on the team with the caliber of experience that Heather brings,” says Julia Miller, head of Alcorn Construction’s Sales, Marketing, and Preconstruction group. “She has a true sense of the process it takes to construct projects of all types and sizes, which will prove to be invaluable to our clients.”

Heather started her career in the subcontracting market, managing accounts for a small door company in Fort Collins. A few years later, she migrated south to Denver, where she worked as a purchasing coordinator for a large drywall company before she transitioned to estimating large projects throughout the Denver metro area. Eventually, her skills led her to estimating for a large general contractor, where she found her passion in preconstruction. Harper has participated in commercial construction projects of all shapes and sizes at companies like Swinerton Builders, Kiewit Building Group, and PCL Construction. Her project experience includes commercial interiors, high-rises, condominiums, airport terminals, park renovations, site development, and bridge construction.

“When I learned how Alcorn Construction does business with a focus on its core values and culture, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of,” says Heather. “The company has clear goals for the future, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the achievement of those goals.”

As a trained project manager and estimator, Heather can see projects from concept to completion. Her abilities and experience will help Alcorn Construction improve its current offerings and forge paths into new market types, further building and strengthening client relationships.

Heather also enjoys giving back in the industry. She has served as a board member for Hispanic Contractors of Colorado, teaches at a bootcamp for Contractor Academy twice each year and is the lead mentor for the ACE Mentor Program at Green Mountain High School.

“I like working in the commercial industry and being a part of all the buildings and improvements that we make. We’re leaving behind monuments that serve a purpose in the communities we work in,” says Harper. “I’m looking forward to doing that with Alcorn Construction’s mission in mind.”
